Communities are the foundation for successful shared energy
We need to develop sustainable models and test their impact on local structures in order to equip local communities, public authorities and the market with the knowledge, tools and opportunities needed to direct the care and management of shared natural resources.
The ENERGY4ALL local pilots will conduct fundamental and applied research focusing on a variety of topics: energy poverty, circular economy and waste-energy reuse, public-private-community partnership, and behavioural change.
The pilot cases involve ECs in different stages of emergence: some are already legally established, whereas others are navigating tortuous bureaucratic, technocratic, political, financial and regulatory processes towards establishment and implementation.
This pilot will tackle energy poverty through the development of energy communities in the social housing estate of the Quarticciolo neighbourhood.
This pilot will strengthen social cohesion in a rural setting by overcoming challenges connected to information gaps, administrative barriers, and the development of effective business models.
The Kazán pilot is organised around the Kazán Community Centre, a collectively owned building with an emerging energy community, to be upscaled during the project.
This pilot will be developing collaboration between industry and the public sector to reuse waste energy and water.
The GU-Süd municipal association consists of six municipalities that aim to take advantage of the opportunities offered by energy communities and strengthen regional energy independence through working together.
This pilot concentrates on a disused school building to be converted into social housing units.
